5. WEST COAST

Head north from Corfu throughout the island for 26km to the western coast and Paleokastritsa which is a popular little village on rocks dealing with the sea. It has a number of good fish tavernas, restaurants, bars and stores. https://en.search.wordpress.com/?src=organic&q=Corfu Check out the famous monastery of Panagia Paleokastritsa which was built in 1228 BC.

Then head south to Ermones which is 15km from Corfu and legend has it is the location where Odysseus fulfilled Nausica. You can go to the monastery of Mirtidion where evidence of Neolithic habitation has been found.

Drive another 5km south to Pelekas village which perches on the top of a hill with extraordinary view and unforgettable sundowns. Glyfada beach there is popular.

Another 5km You can find out more or so will get you to Aghios Gordio which stands high up on a cliff at the foot of a significant range of coastal hills, steeped in the scent of pine and lemon groves, cypress and sage. The bay sweeps in between two big headlands with a sand and pebble beach and clear, warm waters.
